ScaleUp WNC Cohort 2


We are delighted to announce the members of the second ScaleUp WNC cohort, with sessions taking place in Summer 2015. Big congratulations to the 15 small businesses that were selected for ScaleUp WNC, a program funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration.

These 15 growth-oriented small businesses will receive intensive training, one-on-one management support, assistance in connecting with growth capital, and the opportunity to strengthen connections in order to scale up their ventures:

* APEX BRAIN CENTERS

APEX Brain Centers is a leading-edge, state-of-the-art brain training facility in Asheville specializing in high frequency, “boot camp”-style brain optimization programs for individuals from all walks of life. Targeted brain training can be beneficial to those looking to improve their memory, focus and attention, individuals suffering from neurological disorders, and peak-performing athletes, scholars and CEOs. * APPALACHIA COOKIE COMPANY

Appalachia Cookie Company began as a late-night cookie delivery service in Boone and now offers delivery and pick-up from 11 a.m. until 2 a.m. The niche bakery focuses on high quality cookies made from scratch and baked to order, also offering shipping so that anyone, anywhere can enjoy their cookies. (Watauga County)

* BEARWATERS BREWING COMPANY

Bearwaters Brewing Company is a veteran-owned, woman-owned craft brewery in Waynesville offering medal-winning beers crafted from the English tradition and blended with American imagination. The company’s vast variety of styles and flavors have been served on tap from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the Colorado Rockies. (Haywood County)

* CAB HOUND

Cab Hound offers a portfolio of web, smartphone and tablet apps and professional services for the taxicab and livery industry that connects managers, dispatchers, drivers and passengers with the latest technology to improve operations and increase profits. (Haywood County)

* COVENANT HEALTH PRODUCTS

Covenant Health Products, started in 2006, grew out of a belief that good personal health management is critical in avoiding a major health crisis down the road. Based in Brevard with a database of more than 16,000 products and the latest recommendations from renowned healthcare professionals, CHP offers a complete source for professional grade vitamins and supplements. (Transylvania County)

* DESTINATION BY DESIGN

Destination by Design is a woman-owned economic development, planning and promotions firm in Boone that assists state and local governments and community organizations working to enhance quality of life as a means of creating greater economic opportunities and healthier communities. (Watauga County)

* DOG DOOR CANINE SERVICES

The Dog Door, with its L.E.G.S.® model of integrated canine science, is a woman-owned business designed to improve the relationships between people and their pet dogs by providing expert dog training services to the WNC community and educational products for a local and national market. (Buncombe County)

* E C BIZ SOLUTIONS

eCBiz Solutions is a custom web, software and application development service focusing on eCommerce, offering a full-spectrum approach to business development where the internet is a primary source of revenue or customer acquisition. (Buncombe County)

* GO YOGA

Go Yoga is a woman-owned, full-service yoga studio offering group classes, corporate wellness, private instruction and teacher training. The company embraces all yoga traditions and teachings. (Buncombe County)

* GO WORX

GoWorx was established to design solutions that meet the evolving creative and performance demands of today’s worldwide action-adventure photography/filmmaking culture. Among its products is the design, manufacturing and marketing of mounts and accessories for GoPro HERO® cameras. (Buncombe County)

* HEURISTA

Heurista is a woman-owned consultancy that negotiates and documents donor recognition policy, designs donor relations and stewardship programs, and manages the design and implementation of donor recognition products, marrying leading-edge theory with practical experience. (Buncombe County)

* ODYSSEY CLAYWORKS

Odyssey Clayworks is an educational ceramics studio in the heart of Asheville’s River Arts District. The spirit and programs of Odyssey are based on the philosophy that every individual’s creative capacity is greatly enhanced by a generous community and challenging instruction. (Buncombe County)

* SHERPA HUNTING

Sherpa Hunting is a veteran-owned business that has developed a first-of-its-kind game cart conversion kit for a variety of climbing treestands, which requires no modification to the treestand and takes less than a minute to attach. (Burke County)

* SPECTRA 3D TECHNOLOGIES

Spectra3D Technologies provides 3D printer sales, prototype design, training, and 3D prints, offering 25 years of experience with 3D design and training. (Buncombe County)

* THE REGENERATION STATION

The Regeneration Station’s Junk Recyclers is a “green” junk pickup service in the Asheville area, which also takes some items free to sell as salvage at The Regeneration Station. (Buncombe County)
