Mountain BizWorks knows small businesses are the economic backbone and cultural heartbeat of Western North Carolina. And while 2024 brought unexpected disaster to our region, those same small businesses stepped up with unparalleled resilience.
In response, just 10 days after the hurricane, Mountain BizWorks launched the WNC Strong: Helene Business Recovery Fund to provide timely relief. Those who still need this support can apply through June 30, 2025.
Through the WNC Strong Helene Business Recovery Fund and Rebuilding Together Grant Program, Mountain BizWorks provided over $48M in relief funding. This support assisted 1,048 entrepreneurs and helped retain 10,207 jobs throughout 27 Western North Carolina counties.
Though disaster funding was a crucial part of 2024, Mountain BizWorks also provided lending and learning programs pre- and post-Helene. The numbers show that even in the most trying times, entrepreneurs continue to innovate and grow.
As examples, the Year in Review features new stories from local entrepreneurs: Aluminati Guitar Co., Crafted Glory, Old Marshall Jail/Zadie’s Market, and Mike’s on Main. They are a reminder that every loan, grant, course, and coaching hour represents an entrepreneur turning dreams into reality.
As our region looks ahead, know that Mountain BizWorks is here to Recover Forward alongside you. Together, we can build an even more thriving an resilient local economy.
