Scholarship details:  If you live in a rural WNC location, have a low-to-moderate income, or are an agricultural business, you may qualify for a partial scholarship. Each class offering has a limited number of scholarships and they are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Apply in the class registration form.

Series Classes

This Series is made up of three distinct classes that, when taken together and in order, comprehensively cover the basic financial skills and tools that every entrepreneur needs to start and run a successful business. After finishing the series you will know how to build a secure financial infrastructure that can stand the test of time.

Classes can be purchased individually; however, if you know you want to attend all three classes, we offer a special discounted price for the full Financial Series pass.

Financial Tools

Get the perfect introduction to the basic financial management principles that all small business owners should know. With an understanding of basic business finance you will be able to make informed decisions and find solid footing for organizing and managing your business finances. This class is a great prelude to learning QuickBooks.

Duration:
  • 2 sessions, 2.5 hours each.

  • Creating, understanding and using financial statements and reports

Intro to QuickBooks Online

Intro to QuickBooks Online is a 2-session geared toward owners and employees of start-up or existing small businesses who manage their own bookkeeping. Day 1 will cover an overview of QuickBooks Online and the different subscription levels, and will teach you how to navigate the dashboard and explore the reporting feature to generate reports that can be customized to your needs. Day 2 will help discover the best ways to get navigate the platform, enter day-to-day transactions, get the information you need out of QuickBooks, and powerful report tools that’ll help your business make good decisions.

After taking this series of classes, utilize one of Mountain BizWorks’ financial coaches to help you integrate all that you learned into an actionable plan so you can build the habit of staying on top of your business’s financials.

addWhat are the prerequisites or materials for this class?

There are no prerequisites for our Financial Series classes, although it might be helpful to have recent financial statements for review. You do not have to already be in business to benefit from this class.

addWhat if I have specific questions related to my business?

Depending on class size, your facilitator may not be able to answer individual questions specific to your business. If you need one-on-one support, we recommend applying for Business Coaching.

addWhat if I can’t afford the program?

Financial aid is available for all of our learning programs. Scholarship applications are embedded in many individual class registrations; if not, please review our scholarship page and email scholarship@mountainbizworks.org with any questions or concerns.

addWhat are technological equipment / tools that I need?

To attend our virtual classes you will need a steady internet connection, a computer or reliable device, and note-taking material. Please let us know if you require extra support.

addAre all classes online or are you offering any in-person?

While Mountain BizWorks will continue to offer virtual classes & workshops, we are beginning to offer some learning services in person or in a hybrid format. Please check each class or workshop description to determine whether it is going to be Virtual, In-Person or a Hybrid of both.
