Mother Earth Produce is a local food delivery service for Western North Carolina and Upstate South Carolina that partners with local farms and food artisans to bring sustainable vegetables, meats, dairy, eggs, bread, and pantry items to your door.
The husband and wife team aims to solve the problem of “scalability for local foods,” and in an industry that Founder Graham Duvall described as “not being done well or profitability,” Mother Earth Produce has found success in honing their systems, starting small, and having a strong team with “diverse skills.”
After graduating from the ScaleUp WNC course with Mountain BizWorks in 2016, Graham and Andrea honed a “very large vision for the Mother Earth Produce model to be franchised all over the country to connect local foods to their communities.” This vision puts Mother Earth Produce in direct competition with several other national and multi-national players in the grocery delivery industry market.
In the wake of the Amazon acquisition of Whole Foods, Mother Earth Produce, has been placed in a position to highlight their differentiating factors from dominate delivery grocery services. Graham noted that “Amazon’s products are really industrialized and if you want to support the local economy and local foods, Mother Earth Produce is the answer.” To get the word out and to stay relevant Mother Earth Produce aims to stay in the middle of discussion around food delivery and food delivery systems as a food activist.
Graham believes that Mother Earth Produce is in a strong position to succeed in scaling nationally due to their “uniquely profitable, and sustainable, model,” and the market’s craving for justly grown food.
In the hopes of growing to be the “business face for local and organically grown farms,” Mother Earth Produce has found that “like many other businesses Mountain BizWorks has played an integral part in our business’s success, throughout the lending and the learning services.”
