Expanding Small Business Access to Capital in the Southwestern Region

This is a collaborative project between Western Carolina University (WCU) and Mountain BizWorks to increase CDFI small business lending and entrepreneurial training in the Southwestern Region—Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Haywood, Jackson, Macon, and Swain counties. With support from a USDA Rural Development grant, we’re very pleased to be able to increase our work with Southwestern area entrepreneurs and partners.

Why we need more B-Corps in this region?

Our region is home to people and companies that care about the triple bottom line: not just the financial impact of their life and business, but also the oft-overlooked social and environmental impacts. That’s what being a B Corp is all about: B Corps aspire to use the power of markets to solve social and environmental problems.
